About
I’m a User Experience Engineer living in California. My first experiences on the web were in the early- to mid-nineties and I started working on the web in 1996. I experienced the highs and lows of the Internet bubble and lived to tell the tale.
Some of the oldest posts on this site are from a LiveJournal account I started in 2007. In 2010 I decided it would be best to migrate my old blogs over to a new site and create a hub for various projects of which I have been a part. Hopefully you find what I preach is what I practice.
I spend much of my time thinking about user experience, web technologies and coding like a madman. I am an amateur photographer. I enjoy music and the arts. I’ve been known to act on impulse, building new tools and toys, only asking questions later.
I started college as a music major. In my lower division studies I spent time studying music, business and computer science. I completed my education at University of California, San Diego with a major in applied mathematics and a minor in philosophy.
I am currently the senior web developer for Arrowhead General Insurance Agency, Inc. in San Diego, acting as part of a team developing web infrastructure and guiding user experience. My goal is simple: provide the best web experience possible to the largest audience that can be reached.
It has never been said simple meant easy.
For a list of my latest projects, please see the sites section of my site.
Find me on LinkedIn.
I also have a Twitter account where you can follow my day to day successes and failures.
If you would like to contact me directly, you my do so via e-mail: chris@chrisstead.com
I do not believe in the philosophy guiding Facebook and their policies regarding people’s privacy. As a result, I do not and will not have an account with them.
